JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for designing, building, enhancing, and supporting the system backup and storage infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Adds and removes user accounts from servers.
• Provides reporting of system usage, capacity, and availability to management and users.
• Install and/or maintain computer systems and share knowledge with other system administrators.
• Install operating system patches consistent with existing policies and procedures.
• Design and document procedures for backups and security.
• Understand the differences in OS versions supported by Infor’s products.
• Checks for reasonable disk, memory, and performance of systems.
• Document department processes and procedures
• Maintains a strong knowledge of technologies and methodologies available to provide the optimal backup and storage design to support the business’ needs and be able to communicate relevant information to technical staff, management, and end-users.
• Assists management in the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental procedures.
• Teaches and guide less experienced administrators.
• Provides direction by providing expectations; and clarifying roles and responsibilities to less experience team members
• Assists with development and testing of the disaster recovery plan.
• Keeps up to date with industry and operating system changes and new functionality.
• Leads group level projects in new technologies and initiatives.
• Resolves moderate to difficult problems, escalates problems as appropriate
• Tunes servers to operate efficiently under specific workloads and application requirements, such as database servers, web servers, or application servers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2 years of system administration experience
• 4-6 years of information systems experience
• 2 years of experience with disk management, memory management, process management, and kernel/OS tuning.
• Scripting knowledge (PERL, shell)
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and networking principles
• Advanced performance and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to verbally present complex concepts and technical information to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise manner.
• Two year technical degree and/or equivalent work experience.
Unix Platform Requirements:
• Shell programming experience
• Level I certification of at least one vendor’s Unix operating system
Windows Server Platform Requirements:
• 2 years of experience in supporting WINS, DNS, and Active Directory
MCSA or equivalent experience
