A Solution Backend Engineer is a technical role responsible for implementing Infor applications to deliver analytics and optimization for our retail customers. The Solution Backend Engineer specializes in data integration, cloud distributed data processing and analytics, testing, and deployment. The integration work includes data integration (ETL), configuring batch workflow processes, creating an automated and reliable engineering solution in the cloud following principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment. The Solution Back-end Engineer is an internal role but works in the context of an overall customer solution implementation project..
Responsibilities
● Design and implement services to implement data integration (ETL) from customer systems into the cloud database platform, handling large data volumes
● Design and implement batch job and workflow in a distributed cloud computing architecture to perform needed data import, computation, and export
● Design and implement back-end web services for system integration
● Perform data validation
● Author unit tests and performance tests within an automated test framework
● Evaluate diagnostic information to performance tune and debug applications
● Design and build applications fully leveraging the cloud platform and infrastructure services
● Effectively apply Infor do-learn-do agile methodology and adhere to project and technical standards
Required Skills and Experience
● BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related discipline
● 5 plus years’ proficiency in UNIX-based OS environments and command line/shell scripting
● 5 plus years’ of working knowledge of relational databases, multi-dimensional databases, OLAP, NoSQL databases and concepts
● 5 plus years’ with data modeling techniques and tools for data warehouses; decision automation preferred
● 5 plus years’ experience with the following:
Commercial programming experience and proficiency with enterprise, web-based software technologies
SQL - query/database tuning
Data integration
ETL
Python scripting
Web services and SOA
Java
XML
● Strong problem solving and analytical skills
● Ability to work in agile development methodology
● Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google, Azure)
● Experience and understanding of retail operations domain, including planning, forecasting, and supply chain, is a plus
● Knowledge of functional or logical programming languages is a plus
