A Solution Engineer / Application Consultant is a technical consulting role responsible for implementing Infor applications to deliver analytics and optimization for our retail customers. The Solution Engineer / Application Consultant specializes in modeling & configuration, testing, and deployment. The consultant configures the data model & business rules, writes automated tests, and configures the application UI. Some Solution Engineers work in a more customer facing consulting role; however, others work more internally.
Responsibilities
● Collaborate with Infor business consultants (subject matter experts) as well as the customer to understand business requirements and translate to technical model for implementation
● Configure data models and business rules to express the client’s business operations using the language of the Infor applications
● Configure the UI in accordance with features, wireframes, and user flows required for the customer
● Author unit tests and performance tests within an automated test framework
● Evaluate diagnostic information to performance tune and debug applications
● Assist and/or perform data validation
● Support functional validation and testing of configured features
● Design, build and deploy applications fully leveraging the cloud platform and infrastructure services including Continuous Integration and automated build tools
● Help author standard operating procedures, design and training documentation and demos of the solution
● Effectively work within the Infor agile methodology and adhere to project and technical standards
Required Skills and Experience
● BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related discipline
● 5 years’ proficiency in UNIX-based OS environments and command line/shell scripting
● 5 plus years working knowledge of relational databases, multi-dimensional databases, OLAP, NoSQL databases and concepts
● 5 plus years’ experience with data modeling techniques and tools for data warehouses; decision automation preferred
● MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO AUTHOR JSON, Python scripts
● Strong problem solving and analytical skills
● Ability to work in agile development methodology
● Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google, Azure)
● Experience and understanding of retail operations domain, including planning, forecasting, and supply chain, is a plus
● Experience with commercial software architecture and development experience, and proficiency with enterprise, web-based software technologies, is a plus
● Experience with other configurable retail planning solutions is a plus
● Knowledge of functional or logical programming languages is a plus
