Lead Nuclear Medicine Tech

Job Summary: Mentors and trains other Nuclear Medicine (NM) Technologist and coordinates schedule with other departments to ensure the day to day activities for NM testing and invasive patient procedures are done timely and accurately. 

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director, Diagnostic Services, Radiologists and other personnel to supervise and perform technical procedures in the NM area. 
  • In charge of maintaining and writing NM procedures and staff compliance of procedures.
  • Responsible for performance improvement with respect to Quality Assurance, knowledge and safety.   
  • Provide input for all NM Technologist evaluations and competencies.
  • Responsible for ACR accreditation application/renewal along with monitoring dose issues and working with the Radiologists to lower dose to patients whenever possible.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine.  Nuclear Medicine Professional boards required.  Five (5) years of experience in a hospital NM department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of all anatomy and physiology associated with Nuclear Medicine Testing.  Strong IV skills.  Knowledge of various NM materials and used. Basic Life Safety Certification (BLS) preferred.

Working Conditions:  May occasionally be exposed to infectious diseases or hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements:  Constantly walk, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, talk/hear.  Frequently stand, reach, push/pull, stoop/kneel/crouch, lift/carry 50+ lbs.
