Executive Director of Oaklawn Medical Group

Job Summary: The Executive Director of Oaklawn Medical Group shall be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enforcing acceptable professional and ethical standards of Oaklawn's employed medical staff according to Oaklawn’s policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. The Executive Director assists the Chief Medical Officer in assuring that the practices meet all related local, state, federal, and accrediting body rules and regulations. The Executive Director assists the CMO and clinical operations director in coordinating and directing patient care in the facility according to adopted policies/procedures, state and federal regulations, and accepted accreditation standards.

Essential Functions:  Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing their goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.

  • Ensures that the quality of patient care within the medical group is following the established policies and procedures and in accordance with regulatory governance.
  • Makes recommendations for strategic planning for medical group initiatives.
  • Manages projects that grow the medical group or enhance efficiencies within the medical group including the development of new service lines and the recruitment of providers. Evaluates existing programs for continuation.
  • Directs physician and advanced practice provider recruitment, contracting and retention in accordance with established medical staff development plan.
  • Provides the financial management oversight of clinic operations by revenue optimization strategies as well as promoting cost containment initiatives including the efficient use of facility resources with the support of the finance department.
  • In conjunction with the Clinical Operations Director, oversees practice management in its day-to-day responsibilities while maintaining a commitment to effective team functioning.
  • Guides staff and provider professional development, including coaching, providing, and documenting performance management, and recommending employment termination as appropriate.
  • Supports risk management and participates in programs concerning patient and employee safety.
  • Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's compliance program.
  • Investigates breaches of quality patient care or ethical conduct by team members and makes appropriate recommendations to the governing body.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with Oaklawn Senior Leadership and the medical practice leaders they oversee.
  • Collaborates with leadership of other departments within Oaklawn on interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.
  • Supports administrative decisions and activities affecting patient care.
  • Enforces medical staff by-laws, rules, and regulations, and Oaklawn's policies and procedures.
  • Supports Oaklawn's ideology, mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.
  • Responds to emergencies with competence and composure.
  • Develops a culture that motivates employees and emphasizes inclusivity and diversity, collaboration, accountability, and performance with a shared vision for the future.
  • Conducts themself as a positive role model and team member with colleagues and communities in which they serve.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Administration or Business Administration. Minimum of five (5) years of successful leadership experience in hospital owned as well as independent and medical group organizations.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Health Administration or Business Administration preferred. American College of Medical Practice Executives Board Certification, Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) preferred.

  • Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems.

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Physical Requirements: Constantly sit, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear.  Frequently stand, walk and reach.  Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs
