Sr. Database Administrator

GENERAL SUMMARY
Sr. DBA will be responsible for the management of databases in all stages of production, database maintenance activities, troubleshooting database-related issues, monitoring of database capacity and performance, provision of technical expertise on database design, configuration of database servers including SAN disk subsystems, ensuring proper database releases and actualizations, and collaboration with vendors, developers and support staff to assure a high-quality database environments.

FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT
All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Customer Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort and Casino.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, Secure and support SQL databases in a real time production environment.
• Resolve database integrity, performance, blocking, connectivity, and replication issues.
• Detect database-related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other contention issues.
• Performance tuning of database schema
• Database backup/recovery and capacity monitoring
• Work with index statistics and fragmentation
• Clustering, replication and SAN management
• Implement SQL DB Replication as required
• Management of software deployments/changes in real time environments
• Actualize databases with latest service packs, patches and security fixes
• Collaborate with application developers and other cross-functional teams.
• Recommend, optimize and help resolve vendor specific DB issues.
• Mentor and train other DBA’s
• Work closely with Data Lake Administrator to implement and maintain Big Data initiatives
• All other duties as assigned

ACCOUNTABILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in computers or databases with minimum 7 or more years of experience in MSSQL database administration, design and development.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position requires the database administrator to understand, read, write, and speak English fluently. In addition, you must be able to analyze and interpret common scientific, technical and industry journals and documents. As the network administrator, you must respond to common inquires and complaints from customers, management, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community within a reasonable period. Moreover, the network administrator must effectively be able present information to management, public groups, boards of directors and conferences when required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position requires the ability to calculate figures, index sizes, table sizes, proportions, percentages, capacity planning, increases/decreases-percentage change, etc. The position also requires the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position also requires the ability to accurately interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Microsoft, Oracle, IBM database certifications
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Must be able to obtain a Class “A” gaming license

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Strong SQL programming, ability to write complex SQL queries, understanding of views, stored procedures, triggers and query optimization as well as execution plan.
• 3 or more years of experience working with Oracle DB preferred
• Experience in HA/Failover technologies
• Experience in log shipping and DR Environments
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with little to no supervision
• Capacity to implement operational automation using scripts.
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Strong focus on closing out assigned work
• Work in a 24/7/365 environment

• Must be able to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks
• Must be a self-starter who is highly motivated and resourceful
• Must be able to work with a positive attitude in a fast paced and culturally diverse casino environment
• Must be flexible and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays
