PC Analyst

Job Summary: Supports and maintains in-house computer systems, desktops, laptops and peripherals. Works closely with Help Desk and Network Analysts.

Essential Functions:  

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for annual deployment of approved personal computer hardware and software as well as proper disposal of obsolete and broken devices
  • Loads operating system image and application software on new and replacement devices
  • Transitions end-user software from old PC to new computer during replacement, loads printer drivers and other necessary configuration information on equipment
  • Installs, configures and replaces software applications and peripheral devices.
  • Assists with installing and troubleshooting phone equipment and activating voice mail accounts
  • Troubleshoots hardware/software issues received by Help Desk and communicates with end-user
  • Works with anti-virus and related solutions to diagnose and clean up any malware that is received. Checks daily logs to make sure equipment is not infected
  • Maintains hardware and software inventories and warranty and repair documentation
  • Creates system documentation and standard operating procedures for PC hardware and software. Uploads policies and procedures to organizational policy system
  • Is responsible for regular preventative maintenance including but not limited to: cleaning and dusting screens, fans, printers and switch ports, checking battery strength on laptops and UPS devices, replacing damaged cables and cords, tracking page counts and device utilization
  • Implements service packs, patches and fix packs
  • Works with outside repair services for devices under warranty or problems outside of expertise
  • Works with and backs up Help Desk and may be responsible for daily IS Department operational tasks
  • Works with the Clinical Information Systems Analysts and Network Analysts to support and train end users
  • Responsible for maintaining organization of storage areas and computer room
  • Participates in special projects and assists other Information Systems Analysts as needed

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field and two (2) years of Help Desk or PC Tech experience or a commensurate combination of education and experience. Some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional specific technical certifications such as A+ certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:   Knowledge of personal computer and printer anatomy, PC operating systems, anti-virus, malware applications, healthcare related software, commonly used PC software and hardware and diagnostic software for PCs, of how application software is affected by the operating environment, software and hardware interact, how PCs interact with the network and Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Skilled in interpersonal relationships and customer service, assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands, operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications and working under pressure and managing time. 

Working Conditions:  May be occasionally exposed to hazardous materials or infectious diseases.

Physical Requirements:  Constantly see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear.  Frequently stand, sit, walk, reach, push/pull, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch, lift/carry 1 to 49 lbs.  Occasionally lift/carry 50+ lbs.
