Supervisor

Job Summary: Supervises, directs and trains staff according to department needs and Oaklawn’s policy. Assists in scheduling staff according to the department needs. Inspects all work areas to monitor quality and quantity of work performed, monitors compliance with related regulatory standards and Oaklawn polices, and assures a safe, clean and orderly environment. Operation of floor buffers, scrubbers and other equipment utilized in the housekeeping department.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Assumes shift accountability for utilizing environmental services to maintain facilities consistent with current policies, procedures, protocols and standards. Makes suggestions for change and provides input into policies, procedures, and goals as needed.
  • Provides input into the development of the staff schedule and makes alteration and changes to meet changing needs. Fills staff vacancies on a shift-by-shift basis and anticipate the needs of other shifts.
  • Participates in interviewing candidates and makes recommendations regarding hiring.
  • Acts as a customer advocate by providing ongoing communication with customers, staff, and management regarding housekeeping issues.
  • Inspects and evaluates physical condition of hospital. Recommends painting, repairs, furnishing, and relocation of equipment.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year prior supervisory experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Good communication and teamwork skills preferred. Knowledge of housekeeping materials, supplies and equipment necessary to ensure a safe work environment preferred.

  

Working Conditions:  Potentially exposed to infectious diseases.

 

Physical Requirements:   Frequently stand, walk, reach, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch, talk/hear, lift/carry 1 to 50+ lbs.
