Technician - Home Medical Equipment

Job Summary: Provides service to patients through delivery, assembly and instruction on safe use, follow-up visits and on-call trouble shooting of home medical equipment.  Cleans disinfects, and functionally checks durable medical equipment. 

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Securely loads, delivers, sets up and maintains equipment at delivery address.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates deliveries, pick-ups and service calls in an efficient manner.
  • Educates patients or caregivers on the safe use and maintenance of the delivered items.   
  • Completes documentation associated with delivery of products including delivery forms, invoices, work orders, manifest and logs.
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of current products and services offered by the company and all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, asset management and cost management of parts inventory.
  • Assist patients with problem solving in regards to their equipment.
  • May be involved in the cleaning and repair of medical equipment.
  • Delivers equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state and local governmental regulations.
  • Participates in Improvement of Operational Performance activities

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or equivalent.  Valid driver’s license, able to be covered on Oaklawn’s vehicle insurance and have a clean state criminal background.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: One year prior customer service experience preferred. Able to keep detailed records regarding equipment and medical records. Able to communicate effectively and organize daily work according to patient needs. Able to safely operate a company vehicle. Able to work a flexible schedule, as needed (including nights and weekends).  Demonstrates effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions:  May work in unpredictable home environments with variations in cleanliness, temperature, behaviors, smoke, animals, and other potential hazards. Required to drive a car in all types of weather.

Physical Requirements:  Constantly stand, walk, push/pull, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch, talk/hear, lift/carry 1 to 49 lbs.  Frequently sit, reach.
