Clinical Coordinator and Educator

             

Job Summary:  Assesses, promotes and contributes to the quality of nursing care administered to patients and their support systems throughout the health-illness continuum. Provides clinical leadership and staff development through advanced practice role-modeling and professional communication.

 

Essential Functions

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Assist the Nursing Director in data collection and analysis.    
  • Communicates and collaborates with other departments to provide continuous, smooth transition of care and day-to-day operations between units.
  • Develops and coordinates orientation and training of staff. Mentors and consults with staff regarding their professional needs.
  • Facilitates the development and utilization of patient education materials to meet the needs of the specialty unit.
  • Facilitates and collaborates on the use of nursing research within the institution.
  • Identifies clinical areas to be monitored that directly impact patient care and the clinical setting.
  • Guides and directs system-wide clinical activities to improve and maintain staff competency and critical thinking skills
  • Provides clinical knowledge and expertise for management of complex patient care problems.
  • Monitors activities on a shift and facilitates completion of assignments and deployment of staff.
  • Collaborates with staff to identify issues on the unit, plans appropriate actions to promote changes which enhance nursing practice and evaluates these changes.
  • Coordinates appropriate staffing levels at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:   Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.  BSN or MSN degree. Must have current licensure or be eligible for licensure by Michigan State Board of Nursing.  Two years’ experience in an acute care setting. Biannual CPR (BLS) certification. ACLS certified prior to completion of orientation

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:   Master’s Degree in Nursing or active pursuit of degree, and recent experience in a Clinical Coordinator/Leadership role preferred. Specialty certification is desirable. Effective interpersonal communication and teaching skills. Must have the knowledge, skills and ability to fulfill the professional role functions of the Registered Nurse in the assigned area.

Working Conditions:   Able to work as a staff nurse and/or in an office setting as needed.  Potentially exposed to infectious diseases.  Able to work in an unpredictable environment encountering stressful situations

Physical Requirements:   Constantly see/visual acuity, talk/hear.  Frequently sit, walk, reach, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, taste/smell, lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.  Occasionally lift/carry 25 to 50+ lbs.
