Respiratory Therapy Technician

Job Summary:  Under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist may Perform basic respiratory care such as nebulizer treatments, Meter Dose Inhalers and oxygen checks and set ups (excluding any oxygen titration increases).

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Delivery of basic nebulized medications.
  • Delivery of basic Meter Dose Inhalers.
  • Delivers and sets up basic oxygen modalities (excluding increasing titrations.)
  • Performs EKG testing.
  • Works with the EMR for charting and patient assessment needs.

Minimum Qualifications:  Must be actively enrolled in an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program with completion of the first basic respiratory therapy didactic studies and clinical rotation or completed the program. Must be competent in basic patient assessment including exceptional breath sound identification. BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association Certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Demonstrated competency in administration of all inhaled medications and basic modalities.

Working Conditions:  Potentially exposed to infectious disease.

Physical Requirements:  Constantly see/visual acuity, talk/hear, lift/carry 50+ lbs.  Frequently stand, walk, reach, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch.
