Window Systems Engineer
SUMMARY:
Lead the design, escalation, and systems project management for MedStar’s systems. Act as a consultant, resource and the highest escalation point for IT Technician team. Responsible for complete oversight, maintenance, and administration of Windows systems and Microsoft System Center.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Design and enhance Microsoft System Center deployment (SCSM, SCOM, SCO, SCCM).
- Manage and maintain the physical and virtual Windows Server environment.
- Manage and maintain the VMware environment.
- Manage, improve, and design Windows Active Directory infrastructures.
- Serve as project manager and Windows systems engineering expert in complex deployments having complete discretion to make independent/critical decisions throughout the system deployments.
- Generate automation scripts as needed.
- Tracks assigned configuration items (CIs) and ensures project plan is followed and on schedule.
- Facilitates effective monitoring mechanism.
- Manage and maintain monitoring and alerting.
- Writes system documentation for all assigned systems.
- Provide advanced Tier III resolutions for complex issues when escalated from IT Technician team.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation schedule.
- Regular and timely physical attendance during assigned work hours.
- On-call and overtime work required in emergencies and at other times as directed or assigned.
- Ensure confidentiality of medical and all other discretionary information.
- Work effectively as member of the MedStar team.
- Maintain appropriate physical and mental health required to perform the essential functions of this job.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Air conditioned office environment
- Occasionally in the field with EMTs and Paramedics and while conducting stakeholder/media ride outs to foster education and stakeholder relationships

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related IT field AND a minimum of seven years of experience, OR a similar combination of education and experience including project management experience
- Experience in managing large 24x7 mission critical applications
- Extensive experience with Windows Server up to the latest versions
- Recent demonstrated successful experience designing and implementing or enhancing Active Directory
- Recent demonstrated successful experience designing and implementing SCOM/SCCM/SCO run books, and SCSM
- Experience with Microsoft SCCM for software distribution and patch management
- Experience with managing VMWare ESX
- Experience working with IIS
- Experience working with SQL Server
- Understanding of TCP/IP and other networking principles
- Proven effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proven effective teaming and inter-personal skills
- The ability to work on multiple projects/tasks at once and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment and possess organization skills to balance and prioritize work
- Must not have been excluded by the OIG to participate in Federally Funded Healthcare Programs
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- MSCE, VCP
- Experience working with mission critical environments
- PowerShell Scripting
- Experience with SharePoint environments
- Experience with operating system and application virtualization
- Experience with enterprise SAN and NAS configurations
- Familiarity with ITIL, and configuration, capacity and change management
- Experience with ArcGIS
