Physician - Internal Medicine -Marshall Internal & Family

Job Summary:  Diagnoses, treats, and assists in the prevention of diseases and injuries that commonly occur in the general population. May refer patients to specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment.   

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • As assigned, maintains office/clinical care hours adequate to serve the needs of patients.
  • Participates in a pre-determined shift rotation with call responsibilities, if applicable.
  • Provides direct patient care (to include diagnoses, treatment and/or proper referral).
  • Evaluates patients in a courteous and timely manner and must possess a clear communication style.
  • Documents patient/provider interactions in medical record according to established procedures and completes all records/charts timely.
  • Consults with other medical staff providers and support staff, as needed.
  • Attends assigned hospital/medical group meetings as directed or requested by OMG Administration.
  • Serves on committees, or as a Medical Director, for appropriate services, if so appointed by OMG Administration.
  • Meets or exceeds Median Patient Satisfaction Score.
  • Achieves or exceeds identified Quality Measures.
  • Works with support and administrative staff in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Participates in activities such as health fairs, classes, and community events.
  • Will be compliant with hospital Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, as well as professional conduct requirements.
  • Cares for patients in skilled nursing facilities as directed or requested by OMG Administration.

Minimum Qualifications:  Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.   Board Certified or Board Eligible with intent of taking and successfully becoming Board Certified within four (4) years of employment date.  Possess a Michigan medical license and a valid DEA.  Shall maintain necessary certifications as required by the Hospital. Must be eligible to be credentialed and contractible on Oaklawn’s insurance plans and must not be excluded from participation in federal health care programs. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Experience in Athena, Cerner, or other EMRs desired.  If with Obstetrics:  Ability to perform C-Section procedures (and participate in C-Section call), is desired.  Supervisory experience in multiple physician practice, physician practice budget and billing processes is preferred.  Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and strong attention to detail. Ability to multitask, problem solve and take multiple variables into consideration during the course of daily activities.

Working Conditions: General clinical office environment. Potential exposure to infectious diseases.

Physical Requirements: Constantly see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear, lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.  Frequently stand, walk, stoop/kneel/crouch, taste/smell, lift/carry 25 to 49 lbs.  Occasionally lift/carry 50+ lbs.
