Physical Therapist - Full time Sports Rehabilitation Center

Job Summary:  Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs for patients to restore function, relieve pain and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part.

Essential Functions:

  • Determines appropriateness of prescribed therapies and goals for identified pathophysiological state.
  • Records treatment, test procedures, patient response, and results of such as required by hospital and department policy.
  • Reviews and evaluates physician’s referral (prescription) and patient’s medical record to determine physical therapy treatment required.
  • Performs patient tests, measurements and evaluations.
  • Administers therapeutic exercises to improve or maintain muscle function.
  • Instructs, motivates and assists patients in exercises.
  • Administers treatments involving application of physical agents.
  • Administers massage, applying deep and superficial massage techniques.
  • Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain using intermittent and static traction equipment.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications:  Licensed physical therapist by the State of Michigan. BLS certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:   One (1) year out-patient experience, preferred. Pediatric experience preferred. One (1) year hospital experience preferred. Clear oral expression; oral comprehension includes listening to and understanding others; speaking clearly such that others understand; deductive and inductive reasoning skills; ability to write clearly; use of technology such as EMR, selective attention – able to concentrate for protracted periods; time sharing – able to shift back and forth successfully between two or more activities; Ability to work with diverse patient and staff populations with sensitivity to cultural and spiritual influences impacting patient care. Efficiently manage time with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions: Potentially exposed to infectious diseases.

Physical Requirements: Ability to continuously stand and sit (90% of time). Ability to reach with hands and arms.  Ability to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
