Accounting Supervisor - GL

Job Summary:   Plans, coordinates, and administers general accounting activities, including financial statement preparation and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, balance sheet and account reconciliations.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Hands on responsibility for the timely month-end close process, including preparation and posting of standard journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and various analysis.
  • Supports the CFO in the preparation of financial reports, analysis of critical financial information and presentation to management.
  • Supervises Accounting Assistant and Department Assistant positions.
  • Participates in various meetings with operational department leaders in organization, revenue cycle managers and finance leadership. Responsible for working with hospital leadership to identify opportunities for improving EBITDA and cash flows.
  • Coordinates annual financial audit, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Makes recommendations relative to the accounting, finance and reimbursement.
  • Conducts special studies and projects, as assigned
  • Back up to the Accounting Supervisor- Cash position.

Minimum Qualifications:   Bachelor's degree in accounting. Seven (7) years of progressive accounting/finance experience. Advanced Excel skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Healthcare experience preferred. Working knowledge of accounting systems, experience in INFOR Lawson preferred. Strong focus on the details with the ability to see the bigger picture.

Working Conditions:  Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Physical Requirements:  Constantly sit, see/visual acuity. Frequently handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear.  Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.
