Full time Department Assistant - Wound Care Clinic

Job Summary:  Handles administrative duties within the office and performs clerical duties to maintain an organized office.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Obtains patients’ consents, DPOA and legal guardian documents.
  • Answers phone, greets customers, routes calls to appropriate staff and schedules patient appointments.
  • Obtains insurance information from customers and obtains insurance verification for services
  • Coordinates patient ancillary testing with other departments.
  • Enters patient charges, verifies charges and reconciles charges as directed
  • Assembles new patient charts and updates patient charts daily
  • Data entry into proprietary database, and into hospital data systems (patient and registration)
  • Audits data entry and generates reports as directed
  • Maintains office equipment, maintains office supplies and orders as appropriate
  • Assists the Program Director with preparation of statistical data and other information requested from other departments and external requests
  • Assists in preparation of meeting and transcribing meeting minutes.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:   Associates degree or combination of education and experience is preferred; excellent telephone, written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with data extraction from multiple information systems; experience using email and electronic calendar; proficiency with Microsoft Office products for word-processing and spreadsheets; able to work independently.

 

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment and is generally sedentary in nature.  

 

 

Physical Requirements:   Required to sit, stand, walk, bend and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work for prolonged periods of time sitting at a computer.
