Coder - Central Billing FT Hybrid (In office/remote)

Job Summary:  Apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, performing billing follow-up activities, and claims processing.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Codes physician procedures and diagnosis codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT 4 coding nomenclatures.
  • Maintains registry information for all required agencies.
  • Assures the completeness of the medical record.
  • Meets compliance standards with all insurance and government bodies.
  • Performs record analysis of patient records as necessary.
  • Performs release of information functions as necessary.

 

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma and two years previous hospital and office billing experience or a commensurate combination of education and experience. Professional coder certification (CPC®). 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Knowledge of current billing and patient collections methods and requirements. Previous physician, hospital and insurance billing experience preferred. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, knowledge of computer systems and the ability to work independently, as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Computer knowledge and skills.  Experience with Athena a plus.

 

 

Working Conditions:  Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

 

Physical Requirements:  Constantly sit, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear.  Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.
