Executive Director of Oaklawn Medical Group

Job Summary: The Executive Director, Oaklawn Medical Group shall be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enforcing acceptable professional and ethical standards of Oaklawn's medical staff according to Oaklawn’s policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. The Executive Director assists the Chief Medical Officer in assuring that the practices meet all related local, state, federal, and accrediting body rules and regulations. The Executive Director assists the CMO and clinical operations director in coordinating and directing patient care in the facility according to adopted policies/procedures, state and federal regulations, and accepted accreditation standards.

  • Guides practice management in its responsibilities while maintaining a commitment to effective team functioning.
  • Schedules and conducts periodic provider meetings with the Oaklawn Medical Group medical provider staff to inform them of changes in practice policy and resolve problems hindering operating effectiveness.
  • Guides providers, coaching, and discipline to staff providers, including termination recommendations.
  • Participates in committees, meetings, in-services, and activities
  • Ensures the establishment, maintenance, continuous improvement, and enforcement of acceptable professional and ethical standards and performance of the medical staff and patient-care personnel within the medical practices.
  • Reports to the Chief Medical Officer regarding the quality and efficiency of medical care provided.
  • The Executive Director oversees any medical issues of day-to-day operations supporting the Clinical Operations Director and the Director of Clinical Affairs as needed.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with Oaklawn Senior Leadership and practice leadership they oversee.
  • Supports administrative decisions and activities affecting patient care
  • Investigates breaches of quality patient care or ethical conduct by medical staff members and makes appropriate recommendations to the governing body.
  • Enforces medical staff by-laws, rules and regulations, and Oaklawn's policies and procedures
  • Reviews performance of medical staff providers annually at a minimum.
  • Ensures that the quality of patient care is following the established policies and procedures
  • Assists the staff in identifying and solving patient-care problems
  • Assists in maintaining continuity of patient care through coordination of physicians and nursing staff
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
  • Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
  • Provides the financial management oversight of clinic operations by revenue optimization strategies as well as promoting cost containment initiatives including the efficient use of facility resources.
  • Promotes cost containment and efficient use of facility resources
  • Makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements
  • Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's compliance program
  • Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures
  • Responds to emergencies with competence and composure
  • Supports risk management and participates in programs concerning patient and employee safety
  • Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Administration or Business Administration. Minimum of five (5) years of successful leadership experience in hospital owned as well as independent and medical group organizations.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Health Administration or Business Administration preferred. American College of Medical Practice Executives Board Certification, Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) preferred.

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Physical Requirements: Constantly sit, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear.  Frequently stand, walk and reach.  Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.
