EMPLOYEE RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist

Reports To: Employee Relations Manager

Summary
Assists Employee Relations Manager with all aspects of employee relations functions including providing on-site support to employees and managers/supervisors to resolve employee conduct and performance issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; College degree in Human Resources or a related field required; minimum of 5 years human resources experience with 3 years specifically focused on employee relations/issues in an organization with 1000+ employees required; and/or an equivalent combination of college education and human resources work experience.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, this individual must have at least intermediate proficiency level PC skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook software applications (candidates may be tested). Working knowledge of HRIS programs is strongly preferred.

Other Qualifications
Must have up-to-date knowledge of federal employment laws, ability to assess employment satisfaction, resolve conflicts, interpret and develop policies. Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience working in a Native American Indian Community is preferred. Must have excellent prioritization skills to handle multiple job duties in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment. Must have a good driving record to travel between sites. Must be available to work evenings, weekends or holidays when necessary. Must present a well-groomed appearance.

Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to secondary smoke. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
