Assistant - Materials Management

Job Summary: Manages and controls all supplies within the Surgical Core area. Responsible for pulling and maintaining case carts for surgical procedures. Will monitor and maintain the appropriate stock levels through intelligent ordering and distribution of product. Must act as an effective conduit of information between the OR and Materials departments.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for ensuring all surgical case carts pulled and ready prior to scheduled procedure.
  • Responsible to take inventory, create pick lists, fill requisitions, transport stock, and replenish par level areas correctly and efficiently.
  • Responsible for maintaining Core inventory levels, performing cycle counts of stock materials, and performs data entry so that supply availability and computerized record keeping are current.
  • Responsible for monitoring of specialty and non-stock items, maintaining the level of non-stock/special order items, Surgical Specialty Carts, and the Outpatient Surgery Supply storerooms.
  • Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma and one (1) year experience in commercial shipping and receiving. A valid driver’s license in the state of Michigan and able to be covered on Oaklawn’s vehicle insurance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  High school graduate. Strong math skills and keyboard ability. Able to access all service areas. Able to lift 50 lbs unassisted. Previous experience in clinical setting and familiarity with medical supply preferred.

Working Conditions:  May be exposed to hazardous materials. 

 

Physical Requirements:   Constantly stand, walk, reach, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch, talk/hear, lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.  Frequently sit, push/pull, lift/carry 25 to 49 lbs.  Occasionally lift/carry 50+ lbs.
