340B Analyst

Job Summary:  The 340B Analyst will work closely with the Pharmacy Informatics Coordinator, assisting in maintaining, managing, auditing, monitoring, and implementing pharmacy 340B-related initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Reviews 340B Program policies and procedures on an ongoing basis and offer contributions and changes to ensure 340B compliance.
  • Performs regular audits of contract pharmacies, clinics, entity-owned pharmacy, hospital practices, 340B pharmacy operations, or other areas as assigned.  Ensure compliance with 340B Program requirements for qualified patients, drugs, and locations.
  • Utilizes and navigate electronic medical records to perform medication auditing with a understanding of how this translates to our 340B program.
  • Ensures compliance with all GPO Prohibition rules.
  • Maintains copies of reports for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Assess opportunities for cost savings and system improvements to yield higher compliance.
  • Develops reports that can be used to educate staff and assist management in tracking the overall financial impact to the organization. Build other reports, as appropriate, to monitor and improve 340B Program compliance and performance.
  • Continues to build knowledge of the health care and pharmacy services industry; use that knowledge to identify ways, and make recommendations, to improve the 340B Program.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the split-billing/third party administrator systems and the functions to be performed.
  • Educates others involved in the purchasing process to ensure proper operation and compliance.
  • Provides the pharmacy buyer with information needed to place orders using the appropriate accounts (e.g., WAC, GPO, and 340B and non-340B) to replenish inventory in the mixed-use inventory setting.
  • Utilize third-party administrator software to generate reports, monitor contract pharmacy operations, perform accumulation adjustments, and tasks as assigned.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the 340B program and acts as the subject matter expert for policies, processes, and procedures in relation to the program.
  • Develops and maintain staff education computer-based learning (CBL) modules.

Minimum Qualifications: Active Michigan Pharmacy Technician license. APEXUS 340B certification or certified within 1 year from hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Experience with the 340B Program, preferred. Able to work accurately under stress with the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with personnel and visitors; ability to operate computer programs, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues; must have strong organizational skills; have a comprehensive understanding of how various complex hospital systems relate to one another. Solid working knowledge of federal guidance related to the 340B program. Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements pertaining to pharmacy practice and the 340B program. 

Working Conditions:  Potentially exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous material.  Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required in sterile areas.

Physical Requirements:   Constantly see/visual acuity, talk/hear.  Frequently sit, handle/grasp/feel.  Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 49 lbs.
