Internal Auditor
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Internal Auditor is responsible for independently examining and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of Pechanga Resort Casino’s (PRC) system of internal controls. As an Internal Auditor, you will participate in the company’s compliance and process improvement efforts through execution of the annual internal audit plan. You will develop knowledge of the components of an effective risk-based internal control environment including gaming industry specifics. This position requires a high level of integrity, discretion, and impartial judgment. FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Customer Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort and Casino. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Conducts internal financial and/or system audits and risk assessments. Reports discrepancies • Documents and evaluates internal controls, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and identifies business risks • Reviews financial transactions or reports for accuracy • Recommends new or modified procedures that improve efficiency or compliance and mitigates risk or loss • Prepares audit plans and understands specific issues to be evaluated. • Develops formal written reports to communicate audit results to communicate to management. If applicable, makes recommendations as appropriate • Cooperates with independent auditors and provides data in support of external audits as needed, may be responsible for facilitating work of external auditors during on-site visits • Reviews the reliability and integrity of financial and operating information and the means used to identify and report such information • Performs audit testing to assess operating effectiveness of controls in place and prepare the appropriate work paper documentation • Audits the organization’s internal operations as directed by management and assists in identifying problems, analyzing data, and proposing solutions • Perform all other job related duties and tasks as assigned. ACCOUNTABILITY: Incumbent is responsible for protecting the assets of Pechanga Resort Casino and for maintaining and providing a positive and professional work environment. ________________________________________ QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES ________________________________________ EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Minimum of (3) three years of relevant work experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be combined in lieu of degree/experience requirements. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class “A” gaming license. SKILLS/ABILITIES: • Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors. • Computer literacy needed including use of computerized auditing software system. Intermediate to advance level skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. • Experienced in working with office equipment including telephone, fax, photocopier, • Occasional nights and weekends required. • Collaborative and cooperative while maintaining independence and a high level of integrity. • Highly objective – exercises impartial judgment on all issues associated with conducting an audit. • Should have basic knowledge of NIGC MICS and Title 31 casino requirements. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: • Must be a self-starter who is highly motivated and resourceful. • Must be able to work with a positive attitude in a fast paced and culturally diverse casino environment. • Must be able to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks. • Must be a continual learner, and refine audit skills through personal development by independent study and attending seminars as convenient to work schedule. |
