Network Planning Analyst

Job Summary: Supports and maintains the network infrastructure and implements projects related to network hardware and software

 

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Manages local area and wide area networks for multiple sites
  • Evaluates, recommends, designs, builds, installs, manages and troubleshoots network hardware including servers, network switches, routers, firewalls, ASAs, VPNs and telecommunication technologies.
  • Installs, manages, troubleshoots and supports Linux(Novell), Windows and ESX/VMware, Unix and Citrix XenApp servers and recommends updates and enhancements
  • Installs, manages, troubleshoots and supports administrative software residing on Linux, Windows and Citrix XenApp servers
  • Installs and administers SQL databases
  • Configures and manages eDirectory, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and WINS services
  • Configures and manages electronic mail, anti-virus, internet filtering and desktop management software
  • Implements and manages wireless network, distributed antenna systems and Vocera technology
  • Maintains clinical and financial systems servers, software and interfaces
  • Installs security certificates and manages licenses.
  • Installs, manages troubleshoots and supports backup and storage systems 
  • Installs, manages, troubleshoots and supports IP telephony system hardware and software
  • Coordinates moves, adds, changes and upgrades to telecommunication equipment
  • Works with telecommunication vendors to install circuits and cables
  • Manages AVST Voice mail system, activates and deactivates voice mail accounts
  • Administers call accounting systems by maintaining data bases, producing reports of calls, tracking calls such as rogue faxes and resolving problems
  • Implements projects that require network and technical resources including Avaya phones and phone systems, Vocera, Amcom and Voice with a Smile system, Spectralink, Nurse call, cell phone, radio systems and teleconferencing
  • Assists with, coordinates or performs upgrades and applies patches to applications, firmware and/or operating systems 
  • Documents network configurations, creates system documentation and standard operating procedures pertaining to the network, software, hardware and infrastructure
  • Assists with disaster/recovery and business continuity planning 
  • Provides expert assistance to PC technicians; Help Desk, Clinical and Analytics teams 
  • Participates in or may lead IS projects. 
  • Participates in construction projects. 
  • Takes off-hours call on nights and weekends according to call rotation schedule

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, and five (5) years of technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Knowledge of commonly used PC software and hardware and diagnostic software for PCs.  Knowledge of how application software is affected by the operating environment, how software and hardware interact, and how PCs interact with the network. Knowledge of server hardware and operating systems.  Knowledge of telephony, voice mail and call accounting systems, Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access and Microsoft Active Directory.  Knowledge of Linux and OES, TCPIP, VoIP, LDAP, DHCP, DNS, WINS, SIP, H.323, Digital and PBX technologies, VMWare, ESX and virtual server environments.  Knowledge of Cisco equipment (VPN, Firewall, Switches and routers) and IOS, Routing, Switching and QOS, Citrix Software, SQL Databases, Storage Area Networks and backup solutions.  Knowledge of Wireless Networking and T1/PRI circuits.  Skilled in interpersonal relationships and customer service, assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands, operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications, working under pressure and managing time and in data analysis.  Some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional specific technical certifications such as MCSE, MCITP, ACA, ASC or ACE.

Physical Requirements:  Constantly sit, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear.  Frequently reach, lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.  Occasionally lift/carry 25 to 50 lbs.
