Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary: Provides professional care for the comfort and well being of patients.  Assesses and plans for patient care during enrollment in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.  Observes and maintains records and documentation of patient care, patient condition, reactions and response to treatment and tracks patient progress.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Maintains knowledge of age specific areas completing annual age specific competency checks
  • Provides direct patient supervision
  • Assists director in establishing individualized patient treatment plans and goal assessments
  • Participates in direct patient care during cardiopulmonary rehabilitation activities and treatments
  • Makes appropriate recommendations to the cardiopulmonary director
  • Prepares records, reports, and memoranda as required
  • Consults regularly with supervisors regarding problems and development priorities of the division
  • Works collaboratively with medical advisors fostering communication and information sharing
  • Performs related patient care duties as required, in the scope of each disciplines license and/or registration

 

Minimum Qualifications: Must be recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). BLS/ACLS certification required.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Graduation from an AMA accredited educational program for respiratory therapists is preferred. Thorough knowledge of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, fitness training, pulmonary therapy principles, methods, and techniques, and their proper application; knowledge of all types of mechanical apparatus used in wellness, fitness, respiratory and cardiopulmonary examinations, and home care; knowledge of all medications used in cardiopulmonary care principles and techniques; knowledge of traditional hospital operations and nontraditional care areas applicable to fitness, wellness, and respiratory therapy; thorough knowledge of computer functions and the ability to use computers and related software; knowledge of and ability to accurately assess patient cardiopulmonary status and recommend appropriate intervention; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

 

Working Conditions:  May be occasionally exposed to hazardous materials or infectious diseases.

 

Physical Requirements:   Constantly walk, see/visual acuity, talk/hear.  Frequently stand, sit, reach, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, stoop/kneel/crouch.  Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 49 lbs.
