DATA ANALYST (SRPMIC INTERN ELIGIBLE)

Summary
The Data Analyst works to provide strategic and tactical reporting solutions for current and future business needs. Responsibilities include the design, development, modification, testing, documentation, distribution, training and on-going third tier support of business reporting and development solutions throughout organization. The Data Analyst works closely with application developers, business systems analysts, DBA’s, and report users to translate functional and technical specifications into clear and concise requirements.
This position has been approved for an SRPMIC intern/apprentice candidate.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree in Computer Science; Computer Information Systems, or related field. Three (3) years IT work experience analyzing system data using report structured development life-cycle methodology and programming best practices.

Computer Skills
* Must have experience with Visio, MS Project and MS Office.
* Software application and database development experience required.
* Windows7 experience required; AS400 experience a plus.
* Must be familiar with SQL Server complex report queries; stored procedures; view, functions, and analysis.
* Able to demonstrate Transactional-SQL and stored procedure skills.
* Must have knowledge of VB.NET, ASP.NET, HTML, DHTML, XML etc.

Other Qualifications
* Must have very strong analytical skills.
* Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.
* Must have knowledge of requirements gathering, system design, system configuration, deliverables documentation, system test planning and execution, user training and procedures, and overall project lifecycle.
* Must be detail oriented.
* Analyze and evaluate client requests for information and develop procedures to extract data from the various relational databases utilizing SSRS, SQL and other data analysis tools.
* Format extracted data into formats acceptable to Microsoft Excel and other PC Windows-based database and spreadsheet products.
* Analyze requests for ad-hoc reports and data downloads to determine the most effective means of reporting the data. Develop solutions for these requests based on the analysis, including developing new queries or stored procedures if appropriate.
* Engage users in analysis and evaluation of functional models and prototypes; identify dependencies and priorities.
* Demonstrate strong research and analysis skills, must able to research, review, and figure out existing infrastructure.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Proven ability to learn, adapt and achieve on a daily basis.
* Ability to work with high degrees of professionalism in a collaborative environment.
* Ability to work independently and show judgment and initiative to accomplish job duties.
* Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
* Industry-specific knowledge Gaming, Accounting, Operations and Marketing is a plus.
* Must be able to work flexible hours, including hours beyond the normal schedule when necessary.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
