Nuclear Medicine TechnologistJob Summary: Prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies utilizing a variety of radioisotope equipment. Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate and administer doses. Subject patients to radiation as prescribed by the Radiologist.

Minimum Qualifications: ARRT(N) or NMTCB registered or equivalent state license for nuclear medicine technology or completion of a training program in nuclear medicine. BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of anatomy/physiology, the disease process, quality control in the Nuclear Medicine Department and documenting/recording information. The ability to inspect equipment and materials for defects, build interpersonal relationships, use a personal computer and solve and solve complex problems. Must also have knowledge of radiation safety and protection, handling of radiopharmaceuticals, all aspects of performing examinations, operation of equipment, handling of medical and radioactive waste, patient safety, and applicable rules and regulations. Must demonstrate competency in administration of radioactive tracers and pharmacological stress agents.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: The position requires an ability to exert force and lift objects of 50 pounds routinely. Must have full use of arms, wrists and shoulders and be able perform simple motor skills for unrestricted time periods, including pushing, pulling, bending and stooping. Must be able to stand 80% of the time, reach and work overhead. Perform manipulative skills needed to position and assist patients. Perform tasks requiring eye-hand coordination such as venipuncture. Require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials. |
