Controller
SUMMARY:
The controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, partnering closely with the core business stakeholders and leaders and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Manage the operations of the Accounting department, including accounts payable, purchasing and payroll
- Regular and timely physical attendance during assigned work hours
- On-call and overtime work required in emergencies and at other times as directed or assigned

JOB DUTIES:
Transactions
- Ensure that accounts payable is paid in a timely manner, and all reasonable discounts taken
- Ensure that payroll is processed timely and accurately
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Prepare monthly financial statements according to generally accepted accounting principles
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts
Reporting
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Review financial statements monthly with Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
- Prepare monthly financials for departmental managers
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Calculate variance to budget and report significant issues to management
- Prepare monthly Board reports
Compliance
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Coordinate the provision of information to external cost report preparers
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 5 years’ experience in general ledger accounting, reporting, and management
- Ability to multi-task and follow through with complex assignments
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of patient accounting, to include contractual adjustments and accounts receivable calculations
- Knowledge of mobile technologies and computer networking systems
- Knowledge of electronic medical documentation processes and workflow
- The ability to create ad hoc data mining reports
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and other number/reporting-based software
- Must not have been excluded by the OIG to Participate in Federally Funded Heath Care Programs
Preferred Requirements:
- CPA a plus
- 2 years’ experience in public accounting/span>
