Job Summary:  The Dietary Technician helps in all dietary functions as directed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

• Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
• Assist patients with meal ordering in compliance with prescribed dietary care plan.
• Up-date changes in meals and special diets in accordance with provider orders.
• Maintain daily communication with Care Team, Registered Dietitian and Dietary Technician, regarding patients’ dietary care plan.
• Complete and maintain necessary records in keeping with Oaklawn Hospital protocols and applicable regulations.
• Work with Registered Dietician and Care Teams to support Oaklawn Hospital philosophy and goals.
• Participate in quality management activities and educational programs.

Minimum Qualifications:  18 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:   Able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotionally upset. Able to communicate in English. Must be detailed oriented and have excellent literacy and writing, documentation, communications, and interpersonal abilities. Able to use tools and equipment required to perform job duties. Must have knowledge of basic math.

Working Conditions:  Virus, disease and infection exposure is possible.

Physical Requirements: Constantly see/visual acuity, talk/hear.  Frequently stand, sit, walk.   Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 50+ lbs.
