Coordinator - Central Billing

Job Summary: Primarily responsible for developing and monitoring all processes and duties related to billing, including processing patient financial information, processing billing information, performing billing follow-up activities, providing related assistance requested by patients, and credentialing. The Central Billing Coordinator works closely with coders, billing personnel and OMG staff to maintain an understanding of their procedures, processes and issues.  

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Ensures CBO documentation and process standards for coding, billing, collections, and credentialing are complete and up to date.
  • Performs accurate and thorough research of CBO subjects.
  • Performs detailed tasks including Timekeeping, financial assignments and assessments, and special corrective coding/billing arrangements with insurance companies.
  • Completes detailed review and analysis of OMG contracts, systems requirements, and other important business documents.
  • Performs training and education for CBO staff.
  • Work with front desk and office managers.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in a related field and two (2) years of medical billing office experience, CPT and ICD-10 experience, or a commensurate combination of education and experience. .

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  CPC preferred. Excellent oral and written communications skills, and ability to work independently with minimal direction and guidance. Excellent analytical skills, ability to multi-task with several intricate and time sensitive subjects and a general working knowledge of medical terminology.  Athena experience preferred, along with knowledge of credentialing, physicians’ billing methods and requirements. Maintains an understanding of daily coding/billing activity.

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Physical Requirements:  Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.
