Generalist

Job Summary:  Responsible for timely processing and payment of all hospital invoices in accordance with hospital policy and procedure, maintains various accounting logs and hospital statistics, and general office duties as deemed necessary by the Controller.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Organize and matches returns and invoices to documents.
  • Reviews all invoices and applicable purchase orders for appropriateness identifying all discrepancies such as price changes, receiving, coding errors, etc.
  • Processes invoices for approval and payment in a timely and organized manner consistent with policy and procedure.
  • Generates accounts payable and refund checks.
  • Maintains an organized filing system and files documents in a timely fashion.
  • Researches vendor statements, phone calls and discrepancies.
  • Maintains various accounting logs and hospital statistics.
  • Understands General Ledger as it relates to Accounts Payable and is able to appropriately code invoices and post them to the correct month
  • Understands the software applications available in the Accounts Payable area and utilizes it to the fullest extent.
  • Understands Purchasing functions as they relate to Accounts Payable (receiving, purchase orders, returns, etc.)
  • Maintains confidentiality of records, documents, written projects and discussions related to department or hospital functions.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Associate’s Degree; one year related experience; strong analytical skills

 

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:  Ability to work independently, as well as to accept direction on given assignments; proficient with Microsoft Excel; experience with Lawson financial systems, preferred;

 

Working Conditions:  Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

 

Physical Requirements:   Constantly sit, see/visual acuity. Frequently handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear.  Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.
