Chief Medical Officer Part time 40 hrs per pay

Job Summary: The Chief Medical Officer will report directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Medical Officer's primary role is to oversee the effective management of Oaklawn medical staff and represent the organization as a senior leader. This role's responsibilities include monitoring the quality and appropriateness of medical care serves as the medical leadership representative at standing medical staff meetings, designated committees, oversee the clinical peer review, develop and approve policies and procedures, manage physician relations and behavior/impairment issues, assist with clinical patient complaints, and provide performance improvement guidance and support.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort to accomplish his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Enhances collaboration between Oaklawn leadership and healthcare providers to promote teamwork and communication among the entire healthcare team.
  • Builds a culture of respect, trust, and professionalism among medical staff providers that are represented by fairness, integrity, and non-discrimination.
  • Provides senior leadership oversight over shared savings programs such as Patient-Centered Medical Home and Accountable Care initiatives.
  • Cooperates with the senior leadership team to initiative procedures, regulations, and plans to benefit our patients and support Oaklawn fiscally.
  • Leads clinical effectiveness efforts, including clinical protocols, clinical benchmarking, and "best" practice identification across the system.
  • Develops and implements strategic initiatives related to clinical quality monitoring, improvement, and reporting for Oaklawn in collaboration with the Senior Leadership team.
  • Helps set priorities for allocation resources and staffing levels, With the input of Medical Group,.
  • Adheres to all Oaklawn Administrative and Human Resource policies and procedures, Medical Staff By-Laws, and overall Safety guidelines.
  • Oversees and ensure effective peer review processes across the system.
  • Aligns and engages both employed and non-employed medical staff to deliver the highest standard of medical care.
  • Leads the evaluation and continuous improvement of medical practice environments.
  • Oversees the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules/Regs, leading the revision process when revisions are warranted.
  • Develops and implements Patient-centric metrics (quality, satisfaction, and safety) in collaboration with other clinical leaders.

Minimum Qualifications: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school, Successful completion of a residency program from an accredited institution and board certification, Current licensure in Michigan, Ten (10) years of practice experience in an integrated health system, Five (5) years of leadership experience in a healthcare organization with demonstrated success in managing clinical improvement and patient safety

Knowledge skills and responsibilities:  Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration or equivalent as determined by Oaklawn Administration, and Leadership development preferred. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communications. Recognized as a resource for leading collaborative administrative, medical staff, clinical and non-clinical team discussions. Demonstrates problem-solving skills, and productively manages conflict. Ability to work as a team member; creating and maintaining effective working relationships. Capable of exercising sound judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs. Leadership capabilities that accommodate a complex organization with multiple matrix relationships demonstrate strong, decisive leadership while encouraging timely consensus building.

Working Conditions:  Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Physical Requirements:  Constantly sit, see/visual acuity, talk/hear.  Frequently handle/grasp/feel. Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.
